WIDA / DRC INSIGHT – Quick Troubleshooting and Setup Guide for iPads & Computers
This guide provides simple steps to follow for setting up WIDA/DRC app, remedying APP issues (test freezes, error retrieving content, error connection issues)
- Open the DRC INSIGHT app (located in the Testing folder on ipads).
- If not installed, install WIDA/DRC Insight app from software center for laptops, or from self-service on iPads
- When launching WIDA/DRC insight for first time click "Allow" when prompted for access to audio/microphone
- If prompted that "Configuration is not found, then do the following:
- Add your school's organizational unit ID to the ORG Unit ID box (Organizational unit ID's for schools/locations will need to be gathered by the on-site Instructional Technology Coach or Technical Support Specialists)
- Add full device name in the name box (Add the iPad/Laptop Name following the convention [School Code]-[Tag Number]-[Suffix] (e.g., XXXX-123456-IS for iPad, XXXX-654321-S for laptop)

If you have entered the wrong iPad name when registering the DRC INSIGHT app, you can submit a ticket to the Help Desk to have this corrected. It will be deleted from the list of Testing Devices on the DRC website. This will force the device to re-register and you will get prompted for the OUID and iPad name again.

Tap “Add” after which you will be presented with details of the Organization the ID used is associated with including the ORG Unit ID you entered, the active Clients, and the ORG Unit Name (Should be your site-specific school code). Verify the information is correct and tap "Register"

Once added you will see the following screen, if needed to perform readiness check use access code 7745
- When running the Readiness check as of 2/12/2026 the following settings (Service Device Connection, Service Device Version) will be greyed out on the results page. This is due to a backend migration and is not to be cause of concern

To prevent any potential issues such as kickouts, connection time outs, and content retrieval errors, the following settings will need be set PRIOR TO BEGINNING THE TEST (This is for iPads only):
- Check in Settings>General>Software Update, to launch any pending updates to the iPad
- Check in Self Service if DRC app is updated, then follow the next steps:
- Settings>VPN = ON
- Settings>Privacy & Security>Location Services = ON
- Settings>DRC INSIGHT>Allow Cross-Website Tracking = ON
- Settings>Safari>Prevent Cross-Website Tracking = OFF
- Settings>WiFi>(information)>Limit IP Address Tracking = OFF
- Close any and all open background app window(s)
- Close any and all tabs in Safari
- If there continues to be an issue with the WIDA/DRC testing app (slowness between pages, kicked out due to content retrieval or connection error) perform the following steps if necessary:
- Go to Self Service, uninstall WIDA/DRC app, then reinstall
- Force Shutdown the iPad and restart the device

Send ticket to Help-Desk with Tag numbers of devices, to re-launch testing sessions (this will cause the device to require adding the Org Unit ID and the device name again) as a last resort
