There are numerous reasons why a screen of a device might get frozen, disconnected from the Wifi, stuck on an update, or unable to proceed to desired next step. The following steps highlight a combination of either button presses and for how long to hold down the button for each model of device:
For HP Laptops:
- Locate the physical power button on your HP laptop.
2. Press and hold the power button for about 10–30 seconds until the laptop turns off completely.
3. Wait 30 seconds to allow the memory to clear.
4. Press the power button once to turn the laptop back on.
For Lenovo Laptops: (2 methods)
- Locate the Power button on your laptop.
- Press and hold the Power button for at least 30 seconds until the laptop shuts down completely.
- Release the button and wait a few seconds.
- Press power button once to turn laptop back on.
- Locate the Power and Volume Down buttons.
- Press and hold both buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
- Release the buttons and wait for the laptop to shut down.
- Press the Power button to restart.
For iPads that are using the lightning charger cable (older iphone/ipad charge cable with visible lines on the connector tip)
1. Press and Release Volume Up: Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
2. Press and Release Volume Down: Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
3. Press and Hold the Top Button: Press and hold the Top button (also known as the Power button) until you see the Apple logo on the screen. This may take about 10-15 seconds.
4. If this doesn't show continue holding down power button for 30-60 seconds until the device powers down
For iPads that are using the new form of charger (type c, looks like a tiny slot, and is same as android phone chargers)
- Press and Release Volume Up: Quickly press and release the Volume Up button. This action should be quick, almost like a tap.
- Press and Release Volume Down: Quickly press and release the Volume Down button. Again, this should be a swift action.
- Press and Hold the Top Button: Press and hold the Top button (also known as the Power button) until you see the Apple logo on the screen. This may take a few seconds.
- Release the Buttons: Once the Apple logo appears, you can release the Top button. Your iPad will begin to restart.
- If this doesn't show continue holding down power button for 30-60 seconds until the device powers down
