Updating or installing Displaynote without admin Credentials on Windows

Periodically throughout the year Displaynote releases updates for their application, when this occurs you will be prompted to update the app when opening the program. However, If you click download update, you will be prompted for Admin credentials and be unable to update without assistance from the Help Desk or TSSPECs. This article serves as a guide for updating display note without those credentials, or installing Displaynote for the first time on Windows devices.

To install display note for the first time, or update without admin credentials:

1. Close out of the display note app if updating.

2. Then in the bottom search bar located in the taskbar, type software center and open the application. If software center does not load or is stuck on the white screen, please restart your device and try again.

3.Once Software center is open you would then search for Displaynote via the search bar or scroll along the list of apps until it is located.

4. Once you have reached the install page hit install and let the update the download or install for the first time. You may need to hit the install button twice as the download file size might change from 1 MB to around 400, requiring a second click. 

If Displaynote is stuck on installing for longer than 5 minutes, check that you have no windows updates pending. If there are windows updates pending or if your computer has not been restarted in a while, please restart and try again.
